Semi-Abstract

1965 -1972

In the late 1960′s Brown made smooth, sensual sculptures based on forms found in the female figure.

'The bulbous intersecting forms in works such as brass torso, confluence and odalisque are suggestively erotic but the human body is not explicit."

            Gillian Whiteley

''I could play games with the forms so that they became a sort of sensuous, rippling folded arrangement of forms that related closely to the figure but weren't descriptive'

Ralph Brown, Artist's Lives British Library Transcript, 2000
